About the position

The Enterprise Data Governance Lead at Fragomen is a pivotal role within the Data Management Team, responsible for leading and championing data initiatives to uphold the highest data standards for clients. This position involves implementing a comprehensive data governance framework, ensuring compliance with data policies, and fostering collaboration across various teams to enhance the firm's data maturity objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and develop the data governance framework, including the creation of core principles.
  • Support the enforcement of data policies and procedures to ensure organizational awareness and compliance.
  • Assign and manage a large group of data owners and their respective stewards to ensure consistency of standards.
  • Collaborate with the data management team to document business terms, standards, and the enterprise data model.
  • Define data governance metrics and ensure regular reporting to the leadership team.
  • Grow a team of data governance professionals to enhance the firm's data maturity objectives.
  • Chair and participate in data governance committees to promote a cross-functional approach to data governance.
  • Promote ongoing enhancement of governance practices, aligning with industry best practices, and regularly review and update the framework and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, computer science, project management, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of direct work experience in large scale/enterprise data projects.
  • At least 3 years leading the creation of formal data governance and/or data management programs.
  • Strong experience in metadata management and knowledge of data standards.
  • Experience in data cataloguing, tagging, lineage, and delivering data products within a data governance framework.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build and lead a team.
