About the position

The Data Scientist II position at Credit One Bank is a critical role within the Data Governance & Strategy Group, focusing on enhancing data quality and validation processes. This position involves leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning to improve data quality across various domains, ensuring that the bank's data is clean, governed, and effectively utilized for business decision-making. The role requires collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive data quality improvements and support the bank's mission of providing excellent customer service through innovative credit card products.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to understand, predict and defend against data quality errors.
  • Leverage large volumes of diverse data to understand relationships, rules, and usage patterns that impact business results.
  • Test and deploy sophisticated analytics programs, machine learning, and statistical methods for data preparation.
  • Explore and examine data from source systems, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and business partners to implement data quality rules.
  • Test and deploy modern data quality analysis, reporting, early warning, and prioritization methods.
  • Communicate analysis results to key stakeholders in clear terms based on data relationships and anomalies.
  • Provide data quality metrics and remediation forecasts to teams developing pipelines and analytic solutions.
  • Present results and recommendations, crafting coherent messaging from complex data outputs.
  • Test, validate, and deploy machine learning algorithms to enhance processes and demonstrate impact.
  • Develop project requirements, analytic plans, SOWs, project timelines, and related materials for outsourced model management.
  • Interact with analysts, modelers, and pipeline developers across the business.
  • Anticipate issues based on internal data trends and propose solutions.
  • Serve as an expert consultant to internal technical and line of business teams.
  • Promote data validation goals and ensure accuracy of deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in business analysis, quantitative analytics, or data science, preferably in financial services.
  • 2+ years of advanced experience using SQL (SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata) and at least one analytical package (SAS, Python, R).
  • Working knowledge of ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques including regression analysis and machine learning algorithms for pattern recognition and predictive analytics.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Leadership skills to mentor others within the group or across the business.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience developing requirements and testing analytic solutions collaboratively.
  • Solid planning, priority setting, and time management skills.
  • Highly motivated, collaborative, and innovative.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, credit, and profitability drivers.
