About the position

Umpqua Bank is seeking a skilled Business Systems Analyst to join our team and work on our enterprise data warehouse. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing business requirements and designing solutions to support the enterprise data warehouse. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders from various departments to identify requirements, develop use cases, and create functional specifications. A thorough understanding of data warehousing principles, data modeling, and data integration is essential for success in this position. The Business Systems Analyst will collaborate with stakeholders to identify and document business requirements for the enterprise data warehouse. They will develop use cases and functional specifications for the data warehouse, working closely with IT teams to integrate data from various sources. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining documentation for the enterprise data warehouse, ensuring data quality and integrity, and providing support to end-users. Monitoring and maintaining the performance of the enterprise data warehouse is also a key responsibility. Compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job functions is crucial, and the analyst will need to stay updated on regulation changes. They will follow all bank policies and procedures, complete required training, and maintain a working knowledge of relevant regulations. The role may also involve coaching, mentoring, or training others as a subject matter expert. The ideal candidate will actively learn, demonstrate, and foster the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words, taking personal initiative and serving as a positive example for others to emulate. The position may include other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and document business requirements for the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Develop use cases and functional specifications for the data warehouse.
  • Work with IT teams to integrate data from various sources into the data warehouse.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity for the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Provide support to end-users of the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and apply to designated job responsibilities.
  • Follow all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and complete all required annual or job-specific training.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
  • Coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert when asked.
  • Actively learn, demonstrate, and foster the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.

Requirements

  • H.S Diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT, MIS, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 7-10 years of technical bank operations experience required.
  • 3+ years agile development experience preferred.
  • 6+ years' experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience working with dimensional or relational database models preferred.
  • Knowledge of project management with Microsoft DevOps, bank operations, Microsoft Azure, bank products, and mortgage, installment, and commercial loans.
  • Extensive familiarity with financial institution computer and operating system features and third-party products.
  • Advanced knowledge of user acceptance testing methodologies, principles, and practices of process development and implementation.
  • Comprehensive banking/business unit system, software, and applications knowledge.
  • Advanced PC program skills with extensive experience with Excel, data warehouse products, and other similar systems.
  • Ability to handle complex problems to achieve department goals.
  • Extensive verbal and written communication skills for a variety of audiences (both technical and non-technical).
  • Ability to analyze problems of a technical nature with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately document problems and resolutions.
  • Possess a high level of analytical ability to understand sophisticated programs/systems for resolving business problems.
  • Ability to respond promptly to customer needs and handle difficult or emotional customer situations.
  • Ability to set goals and objectives, prioritize and plan work activities using time effectively, meet deadlines and commitments, and work independently with little or no directional guidelines from manager.
