About the position

Umpqua Bank is seeking a skilled Business Systems Analyst to join our team and work on our enterprise data warehouse. This role is crucial as it involves analyzing business requirements and designing solutions to support the enterprise data warehouse. The ideal candidate will collaborate with stakeholders from various departments to identify requirements, develop use cases, and create functional specifications. A thorough understanding of data warehousing principles, data modeling, and data integration is essential for success in this position. The Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for documenting business requirements for the enterprise data warehouse, developing use cases, and creating functional specifications. The candidate will work closely with IT teams to integrate data from various sources into the data warehouse, ensuring data quality and integrity. Additionally, the analyst will provide support to end-users, monitor and maintain the performance of the data warehouse, and develop and maintain documentation related to the enterprise data warehouse. Compliance with all bank regulations is a critical aspect of this role. The analyst will need to stay updated on regulation changes and follow all bank policies and procedures. There may also be opportunities to coach, mentor, or train others as a subject matter expert. The candidate should actively learn and demonstrate the Umpqua corporate culture, taking personal initiative and serving as a positive example for others. The role may also involve performing other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and the bank's vision to become the "Business Bank of Choice."

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and document business requirements for the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Develop use cases and functional specifications for the data warehouse.
  • Work with IT teams to integrate data from various sources into the data warehouse.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity for the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Provide support to end-users of the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and apply to designated job responsibilities.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other regulations as applicable.
  • Coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as a subject matter expert if asked.
  • Actively learn, demonstrate, and foster the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.
  • Take personal initiative and be a positive example for others to emulate.

Requirements

  • H.S Diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT, MIS, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 7-10 years of technical bank operations experience required.
  • 3+ years agile development experience preferred.
  • 6+ years' experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience working with dimensional or relational database models preferred.
  • Knowledge of project management with Microsoft DevOps, bank operations, Microsoft Azure, bank products, and mortgage, installment, and commercial loans.
  • Advanced knowledge of user acceptance testing methodologies, principles, and practices of process development and implementation.
  • Comprehensive banking/business unit system, software, and applications knowledge.
  • Advanced PC program skills with extensive experience with Excel, data warehouse products, and other similar systems.
  • Extensive verbal and written communication skills for a variety of audiences (both technical and non-technical).
  • Ability to analyze problems of a technical nature with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately document problems and resolutions.
  • Possess a high level of analytical ability to understand sophisticated programs/systems for resolving business problems.
  • Ability to respond promptly to customer needs and handle difficult or emotional customer situations.
  • Ability to set goals and objectives, prioritize and plan work activities using time effectively, meet deadlines and commitments, and work independently.
