About the position

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking an experienced Enterprise Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting our growing global organization, requiring a blend of strong technical problem-solving skills, organizational abilities, and analytical thinking. The Enterprise DBA will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining database servers and processes, ensuring high levels of security, performance, availability, and resilience. This position will also involve designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining processes using T-SQL, PowerShell, Azure Data Factory, and SSIS. The DBA will need to respond promptly to database-related alerts, emails, and tickets, independently analyze and resolve issues in real-time, and maintain schema changes and scripts using version control tools like Visual Studio, TFS, and DevOps. Collaboration is key, as the DBA will work with geographically dispersed teams, including architects, business analysts, developers, and testers. The role also requires assisting developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement, following established team standards, and proactively identifying areas for improvement. In addition to technical responsibilities, the DBA will document and update processes and procedures, take ownership of assigned deliverables, and ensure that all assignments are completed accurately and within approved delivery schedules. The position may require off-hours support, including weekends and holidays, on rotation, and the DBA will be expected to perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to learning and growing within a dynamic team environment.
