About the position

The Enterprise Director of Finance at HEI is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the financial operations of assigned HEI assets. This position entails managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring forecasting accuracy, and developing budgets for the hotels under supervision. The Enterprise Director will lead the month-end close process, conduct balance sheet reconciliations, and implement process improvements to enhance the control environment of each hotel. A key aspect of this role is to train property staff, ensuring they are well-versed in HEI's operating policies and proficient in using all relevant financial systems and protocols. In this capacity, the Enterprise Director of Finance will supervise the preparation of monthly hotel forecasts, annual operating budgets, and monthly financial statements. They will direct and prepare all financial reports in compliance with HEI's requirements, ensuring that all deadlines are met. The role also involves reviewing balance sheets for completeness and accuracy, identifying any material risks, and following up to resolve these issues appropriately. The Enterprise Director will evaluate compliance with the Internal Audit Program through regular assessments and testing of specific components. Additionally, the Enterprise Director will analyze financial performance and participate in monthly financial reviews, providing guidance to management to help maintain the hotels' financial objectives. Regular meetings and quarterly in-person visits to assigned properties will reinforce training on HEI tools, rhythms, and checklists to ensure compliance and proper usage. Acting as a liaison between ownership and property teams, the Enterprise Director will advise on financial or compliance initiatives and directly supervise the on-property finance leadership team, focusing on hiring, development, mentorship, and performance evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise hotels in preparing their monthly hotel forecast, annual operating budget, and monthly financial statements.
  • Direct and/or prepare all financial reports in accordance with HEI's requirements meeting various due dates and deadlines.
  • Review Balance Sheets for completeness & accuracy denoting any material risks with the appropriate follow-up and communication to properly resolve.
  • Evaluate compliance with Internal Audit Program through evaluation and periodic testing of particular components.
  • Analyze and participate in monthly financial reviews in order to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels' financial objectives.
  • Perform monthly meetings and, at a minimum, once per quarter in-person visit with assigned properties to reinforce training with HEI Tools, Rhythms, and Checklists for compliance and appropriate usage.
  • Act as a liaison between Ownership and Property team to advise on Financial or Compliance initiatives.
  • Directly supervise the on-property Finance leadership team in Hiring, Development, Mentorship, and Performance Evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Sound experience working within the hotel or service industry preferably in a multi-unit capacity.
  • Previous Multi-Property and/or Director of Finance experience recommended.
  • Knowledge of hotel month-end, budgeting, forecasting, and financial preparation process.
  • A high level of Finance, Accounting, Strategy and Analysis knowledge and skills.
  • A deep understanding of the hospitality industry, including all facets of development, opening, operating, conversion and transition, owner relations and revenue management.
  • Ability to create complex models utilizing Microsoft Excel.
  • A strong ability to successfully direct multiple and complex project work streams to successful completion.
  • An effective leader of change with an ability to communicate, instruct and engage internal talent in order to achieve ongoing and effective change.
