About the position

The Enterprise Innovation Architect at First Interstate Bank plays a crucial role in supporting the bank's innovation management program, known as First Interstate Innovation Labs. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while enabling agile execution of innovation initiatives. The architect collaborates with various stakeholders to identify technology-enabled innovation opportunities that align with the bank's business strategy, supports digital transformation efforts, and leads research and development activities. The role requires building a network of third-party partners and evolving the innovation management program to enhance productivity and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and ongoing operation of the bank's innovation capability.
  • Create and evolve the framework to evaluate, assess, and present Proof of Concept (POC) results.
  • Evolve the innovation framework to enable incremental improvements to bank operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Build and expand a sustainable network of third parties to execute innovation opportunities.
  • Establish fusion teams responsible for idea generation and POC development.
  • Develop the governance model and processes for innovation management in collaboration with the Director of EA & Innovation.
  • Identify business and technology-enabled innovation opportunities that drive business strategy.
  • Work with technology partners to develop prototypes demonstrating technology capabilities.
  • Support digital transformation activities across IT and business organizations.
  • Lead emerging technology evaluation and conduct R&D activities with strategic technology providers.
  • Assist in developing strategic technology capabilities aligned with enterprise strategies and business goals.
  • Guide the organization to focus on relevant innovation activities and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other architects and technology teams in an Agile environment.
  • Research and provide insights on emerging technology trends and competitor practices.
  • Design scalable and distributed solutions leveraging innovative approaches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 4-6 years of applicable work experience in innovation roles, technology and digital transformation, collaboration, and governance.
  • Experience in engaging with third parties to execute initiatives is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of how business objectives influence technology strategies.
  • Ability to communicate innovative ideas and craft strategic solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies.
  • Strong analytical skills to define problems and interpret technical instructions.
