About the position

The Enterprise Network Architect SME at SilverEdge will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting advanced enterprise, cloud, and service provider networks. This role emphasizes network hardening, cloud migration, and automation, particularly using Ansible, to deliver innovative solutions for Department of Defense (DoD) customers. The position requires deep technical expertise to architect advanced networking solutions and ensure mission alignment through cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support Cloud, Enterprise, and Service Provider Networks.
  • Develop and execute MPLS VPN service standards for global networks.
  • Provide technical guidance for network architecture, optimization, and engineering.
  • Support cloud deployment and architecture (AWS, Azure) focusing on connectivity, security, and performance.
  • Implement network hardening practices to enhance security and resiliency.
  • Automate enterprise network configurations using Red Hat Ansible and other tools.
  • Perform systems engineering lifecycle (SELC) support.
  • Oversee the strategic interface of network systems configuration.
  • Assess network engineering technologies, protocols, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Optimize network system performance through routing design, techniques, and protocols such as BGP.
  • Apply INFOSEC and COMSEC requirements to network design.
  • Identify technical trends and provide strategic guidance to meet current and future organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 16 years' experience designing, implementing, and supporting advanced networks.
  • CCIE Certification (written and lab).
  • JNCIE Certification (written and lab).
  • Expertise in MPLS, TCP/IP, VPN, and IP telephony.
  • Linux Systems Engineering experience, including AWS deployment, Apache/Nginx, PostgreSQL, Linux, KVM virtualization, Bash, and Perl scripting.
  • Red Hat Ansible Automation experience.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and principles.
  • Cloud experience in AWS (VPC, Transit Gateway, Private Link, ELB) and Azure (VNet, Virtual WAN, VPN Gateway, network monitoring).

Nice-to-haves

  • Cisco IOS experience including switching, routing, and segment routing technologies.
  • Knowledge of radio frequency and spectrum engineering.
  • Expertise in optical networking technologies and satellite communications engineering.
  • Proficiency in additional automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, and Terraform.
  • Experience with SecDevOps principles and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Knowledge of Agile development principles.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles.
  • Advanced understanding of routing protocols (e.g., BGP), traffic engineering, and QoS.
  • Experience in multi-vendor network security environments.
  • Security best practices for firewalls, perimeter security, and VPN technologies.
  • Knowledge of modern software languages (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Perl).
  • In-depth understanding of OSI models and advanced virtual networking technologies.
  • Continuous integration, test automation, and SecDevOps experience on iterative projects.
