About the position

The Enterprise Safety Program Manager at Golden 1 Credit Union is responsible for directing and managing the corporate safety program to ensure the protection of employees and assets. This role involves extensive communication and interaction with members, law enforcement, community officials, and branch personnel to ensure compliance with safety regulations, standards, and procedures. The manager will develop and facilitate ongoing safety and de-escalation training for all employees, with a particular focus on mental health awareness. This position requires a thorough understanding of state and federal laws related to credit union compliance, as well as the ability to foster a positive work environment where safety is prioritized. In addition to training, the Enterprise Safety Program Manager will administer all aspects of physical and psychological safety, including managing safety equipment such as digital video recorders and alarms. The role also involves conducting safety assessments at various branch locations, managing vendor contracts related to safety, and providing additional training on workplace violence and bank robbery procedures. The manager will lead the Safety Team, conduct investigations related to workplace violence, and engage with community organizations to promote safety and mental health awareness. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage stressful situations and problem-solve effectively. The Enterprise Safety Program Manager will work closely with all levels of staff and external contacts, including vendors and law enforcement, to ensure a safe environment for all credit union members and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate ongoing safety and de-escalation training and education for all employees of the credit union.
  • Administer all aspects of physical and psychological safety necessary to protect employees and assets.
  • Provide training and awareness for branch and headquarters personnel regarding proper de-escalation procedures.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance.
  • Foster a positive and engaging work environment with safety as a top priority.
  • Review, analyze and take appropriate action on all procedural recommendations for safety, efficiency, and soundness.
  • Identify, investigate, and respond to member issues and concerns.
  • Review, recommend and negotiate vendor contracts.
  • Provide support to Corporate Security Manager and Officers including standard and procedure development, branch risk assessments.
  • Assess branch and Operations center adherence to corporate safety programs and procedures.
  • Manage safety related vendors including selection, contract negotiation, placement, and billing reconciliation.
  • Provide additional security training and awareness for branch and headquarters personnel regarding workplace violence and bank robberies.
  • Serve as leader of Golden 1's Safety Team, performing all duties required by management.
  • Conduct interviews and investigations relevant to Violence in the Workplace (VWP) issues.
  • Engage in community-led organizations to promote a safe environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in social work, mental health counseling, psychology, criminal justice or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Seven years or more of progressively responsible experience overseeing a safety program with a strong focus on mental health and de-escalation techniques in a financial institution.
  • Knowledge of institution operations, policies, and procedures; security experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; leadership skills; knowledge of automated database programs and electronic banking equipment.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead cross-functional, enterprise-wide projects.

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) preferred.
