About the position

The Enterprise Sales Engineer at Datadog plays a crucial role in providing technical expertise during the sales process, including product demonstrations and technical evaluations. This position is integral in qualifying and closing opportunities with customers and partners, while also relaying customer feedback to the product team to influence feature prioritization. The role emphasizes collaboration within a hybrid workplace, fostering a culture of creativity and relationship-building.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Sales team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers.
  • Own technical engagement with customers during the trial phase, addressing any identified issues or concerns to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Technically close complex opportunities through advanced competitive knowledge, technical skill, and credibility.
  • Deliver product and technical briefings/presentations to potential clients.
  • Maintain accurate notes and feedback in CRM regarding customer input, both wins and losses.
  • Proactively engage and communicate with customers and Datadog business/technical teams regarding product feedback and competitive landscape.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering role.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate business benefits and technical advantages.
  • Experience in programming/scripting with languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, and .NET.
  • Ability to educate customers on observability risks and execute evaluation plans.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud technologies and monitoring solutions.
  • Familiarity with competitive products in the observability space.
