About the position
The Entry Lab Technician role at Actalent involves supporting the research and development team by setting up and operating various pilot equipment. The position is ideal for candidates with a basic understanding of laboratory processes who are eager to learn and grow in a scientific environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate pilot equipment including evaporators, crystallizers, and boilers.
- Operate simple hoses, pumps, heaters, centrifuges, and other equipment throughout the testing processes.
- Record and document outputs from the equipment, including pressure, temperature, gauge levels, and chemical data.
- Perform analytical testing such as titrations, spectroscopy, solids composition, crystal characterization, and microscopy.
- Document all laboratory results and collaborate with other team members to develop products per customer applications.
- Follow basic laboratory practices and maintain a safe, clean working lab space.
Requirements
- Basic laboratory experience in any setting and testing.
- Fundamental understanding of lab processes.
- Experience with titration, reverse osmosis, and crystallization.
- Knowledge in chemistry and biology.
Nice-to-haves
- Open to candidates with multiple years of experience, entry-level candidates, or those with lab experience but no degree.
- Experience as a chemical operator with medium to high level of expertise is a plus.
