About the position

The Entry-Level Accountant position at MCI is responsible for managing the accounting operations of the company, which includes producing financial reports, maintaining accounting records, and implementing controls and budgets to mitigate risks. The role is essential for ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and enhancing the accuracy of financial results. The ideal candidate will contribute to the company's growth and work collaboratively across various business units.

Responsibilities

• Performs Accounts Receivable functions including invoicing, manual check application, aging reports, and account reconciliation
• Enters routine journal entries and bank transactions
• Enters AP bills and credit card transactions if needed
• Performs month-end closing and reconciliation
• Reconciles, investigates, corrects, and adjusts accounting information
• Performs bank reconciliation
• Supports department peers as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• 1-2 years of accrual basis accounting working experience including accounts receivable, journal entries, month-end closing and reconciliation, and bank reconciliation
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact within all levels of the organization
• Demonstrates ability to successfully plan, organize and manage projects
• Detail-oriented, excellent proofreading and editing skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, organized, able to prioritize and work independently
• Exceptionally self-motivated and directed
