About the position

The Entry Level Accountant/Financial Analyst position at the Greater Phoenix Urban League involves assisting with day-to-day accounting operations under the direction of the Controller. The role focuses on managing vital accounting data, processing reports, and analyzing financial information. The position is non-exempt and does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Completes, reviews, monitors, and follows up on a variety of accounting and personnel documents.
  • Assists in performing automated accounting and financial system assignments.
  • Gathers and prepares data such as leave and payroll data, special reports, and financial projects, contracts or accounts.
  • Tracks, monitors, logs, sorts, processes and files, scans electronic and/or hardcopy documents.
  • Conducts routine data entry management for accounting records including accounts payable billings.
  • Reviews billing statements, invoices, and similar documents for accuracy; alerts supervisory staff of any discrepancies.
  • Assists with internal audits and data analyses.
  • Distributes accounting reports as directed.
  • May assist with mail distribution, answering telephones, and other clerical tasks as needed.
  • Demonstrates superior seamless employee staff service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification or Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field required.
  • Bookkeeping training preferred, at least two (2) years' experience.
  • Knowledge of Automated Accounting Systems.
  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office including but not limited to Access, Word, Excel; also, Google Web-based Applications.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data into computer software and systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to utilize deductive reasoning to apply general rules to specific problems.
  • Ability to utilize mathematical reasoning to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
  • Ability to utilize oral expression to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others can understand.
  • Ability to utilize written comprehension to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and being thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Ability to have integrity and being independent, honest, and ethical.
  • Ability to think analytically in analyzing information and using logic to address work-related issues and problems.
  • Ability to utilize cooperation skills in being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
  • Advanced multitasking and organizational skills.
