About the position

The Entry Level Accounting Assistant position is designed for individuals looking to start their career in accounting within a dynamic property management company. This role primarily supports the Accounts Payable Clerk and involves various accounting tasks, providing an excellent opportunity for growth and development in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Accounts Payable Clerk with invoice processing, payment entries, and vendor inquiries.
  • Assist with processing 1099 forms and ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines and deadlines.
  • Support Accounts Receivable by performing bank deposit runs, recording deposits in accounting software, and managing accounts receivable documentation.
  • Maintain utility meter readings and prepare supporting documentation for tenant invoicing.
  • Assist with preparing annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) budgets and reconciliations.
  • Prepare, file, and maintain accounting documents, including invoices, statements, and reports.
  • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies under the guidance of senior accounting staff.
  • Help with general ledger maintenance and prepare monthly account reconciliations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the accounting team to support department goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus.
  • Prior experience in an accounting or administrative role is helpful but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with property management accounting software (experience with accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger entries preferred).
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
