About the position

The Entry Level Auditor position at Navy Exchange involves performing assigned audit tasks with limited supervision and leading less complex audits under the guidance of a Lead Senior or Audit Manager. The role focuses on evaluating the impact of various economic, financial, and managerial programs in accordance with established policies and professional auditing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, coordinates, and participates in performance auditing on assigned projects.
  • Reviews information systems and implements Internal Audit Department policies.
  • Estimates resource needs and schedules work to meet completion dates.
  • Interprets policy and procedure and applies professional accounting and auditing principles.
  • Identifies and analyzes causes of uneconomic and inefficient practices.
  • Develops recommendations for compliance with goals and objectives and documents findings in reports.
  • Effectively communicates audit status and findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Performs research to ensure compliance with laws and ordinances.
  • Prepares work papers, schedules, summaries, narratives, flowcharts, and audit reports.
  • Performs audit follow-up and provides guidance to project staff.

Requirements

  • A total of 5 years of experience in accounting or auditing, including 3 years of general experience in accounting or auditing.
  • 24 semester hours of accounting courses of appropriate type and quality.
  • A four-year bachelor's degree with an accounting major or equivalent education.
  • Possession of a CPA or CIA certificate obtained through written examination is acceptable.
  • 2 years of progressively responsible specialized experience in accounting or auditing.
