About the position

The Entry Level Caregiver position at Changing Options is a part-time role focused on providing direct care to adults with severe mental illness. The caregiver will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of clients, managing medications, and assisting with daily living activities. This role requires flexibility in scheduling, particularly for overnight and weekend shifts, and involves working closely with clinical and management teams to implement care procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation as required.
  • Manage medications, including recording, reviewing for accuracy, packing for passes, and ensuring medications are administered as ordered.
  • Learn and adhere to Community Care Licensing regulations.
  • Implement Changing Options procedures and practices.
  • Follow directives and interventions from clinical and management teams.
  • Counsel clients to promote growth and minimize crisis.
  • Supervise clients to uphold structure and rules, conducting hourly rounds with teammates.
  • Respond to crises in a professional manner, ensuring safety for residents and staff.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), laundry, and room cleaning by providing guidance and education.
  • Lift clients or items as necessary, including carrying dishwasher trays and moving client belongings.
  • Perform any unforeseen responsibilities that arise in providing safe and therapeutic care.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • Valid CA Driver's License with a minimum of 3 years driving record.
  • Pass pre-employment drug testing.
  • Criminal record clearance through fingerprinting prior to starting work.
  • Pass a physical exam and TB test.
  • Visual and auditory ability to observe critical incidents and act swiftly in emergencies.
  • Current or ability to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification from recognized organizations.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, push, pull, lift, and sit.
