About the position

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a motivated and driven Entry Level Civil Engineer in Training to join our team in Nashville, TN. As a growing and well-established professional firm, we provide a wide range of consulting services throughout the southeast, including Civil, Environmental, Structural, and Marine Engineering, Land Surveying, Land Planning, Landscape Architecture, Geographic Information Systems, and Construction Administration. In this role, you will work under the direction of a Project Manager and will be responsible for preparing site development construction drawings, engineering design considerations for water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure, and permit applications associated with residential, commercial, and industrial projects. You will be expected to utilize your skills in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software to deliver high-quality designs and solutions. Responsibilities

  • Prepare site development construction drawings under the direction of a Project Manager.
  • Develop engineering design considerations for water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure.
  • Assist in the preparation of permit applications for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D software for design tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients, both verbally and in writing.
  • Manage multiple tasks and prioritize workflow to meet project deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an ABET accredited university in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT Certification or the ability to receive EIT certification within 6 months.
  • Experience using AutoCAD is required; experience with Civil 3D software is preferred.
  • Previous internship in a related field is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work a regular schedule of 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM Monday to Thursday and 7:30 AM - 11:30 AM Friday.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow effectively.
  • Client service-oriented, self-starter, and team player.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.

  • Experience with Civil 3D software applications.
