About the position

Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking an entry-level civil engineer to join our aviation group. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on various airport design projects, where you will be involved in developing plans and specifications, analyzing and preparing engineering reports, and creating construction cost estimates. The role requires proficiency in drafting tasks using AutoCAD and Civil3D to generate detailed plan sheets. Additionally, you will assist with construction administration tasks, which may involve working in the field at project sites during weekends and nights as needed. A valid driver's license is required, and some travel will be necessary to fulfill the job responsibilities. The successful candidate will be expected to read and interpret FAA Advisory Circulars, geotechnical reports, and survey data to effectively utilize this information in project designs. This position is ideal for recent graduates or those who are about to complete their bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college by the start date. Responsibilities

  • Develop plans and specifications for airport design projects.
  • Analyze and prepare engineering reports and construction cost estimates.
  • Perform drafting tasks in AutoCAD and Civil3D to generate plan sheets.
  • Assist with construction administration tasks, including fieldwork at project sites as needed.
  • Read and interpret FAA Advisory Circulars, geotechnical reports, and survey data for project designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or ability to obtain the degree by start date.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D software programs.
  • Knowledge of civil/transportation design coursework.
  • Experience with construction field tasks including site grading, utilities, drainage, erosion control, paving, materials testing, and/or surveying.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project software programs.
