Kleinfelder is looking for talented Civil Engineers to join our team. Our collaborative Design Services create synergy across multiple disciplines, including bridge and structural engineering, civil, electrical, mechanical, and process engineering. As part of Century Engineering, a Kleinfelder Company, you will work on exciting site-civil design land development projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region, specifically in the Bowie, Maryland office. In this role, you will perform engineering tasks in the site-civil engineering field, applying relevant design criteria, standards, and processes. This branch office offers opportunities to work closely with existing team members while allowing you to grow and expand your individual responsibilities as the office develops. The focus will be on providing services in Anne Arundel County, Prince George's County, Montgomery County, the District of Columbia, and Southern Maryland, reaching into Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Howard County as applicable. As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting field investigations to determine existing conditions, designing engineering projects that include layout, grading, earthwork, storm drain, septic, sanitary sewer, water, storm water management, and erosion/sediment control. You will prepare agency design submission packages for reviews and approvals, participate in permitting processes, and complete as-constructed/as-built drawings. Additionally, you will interpret applicable federal, state, and local codes, draft technical specifications, and occasionally travel to project or client sites to complete tasks or attend meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field investigations to determine existing conditions
  • Design engineering projects including layout, grading, earthwork, storm drain, septic, sanitary sewer, water, storm water management, and erosion/sediment control
  • Prepare agency design submission packages for agency reviews and approvals
  • Participate with permitting and completion of as-constructed/as-built drawings
  • Interpret all applicable federal, state and/or local codes
  • Draft technical specifications
  • Occasionally travel to project/client sites to complete tasks or attend meetings

Requirements

  • BSCE from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • 0-0.3 years of relevant design experience in the site-civil engineering field
  • EIT Certification desirable
  • Intermediate AutoCAD skills required
  • Civil 3D experience desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members
  • Valid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving practices
