About the position

We are looking for an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join our ICE team to improve infrastructure in our Flint or Bay City offices. This position is ideal for candidates who have a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering and possess zero to three years of experience. The role offers a flexible hybrid-remote work schedule after 30 days of employment, allowing for a balance between in-office and remote work. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills, as these are essential for effective coordination and collaboration within the team and with clients. Typical responsibilities for this position include designing various site development projects, which encompass commercial, institutional, and residential plans from concept through construction. This includes site planning, grading, balancing, stormwater design, and the horizontal and vertical design of underground utilities. The engineer will also be responsible for obtaining jurisdictional approvals and permits, preparing design reports and construction plans in accordance with local and state standards, and preparing preliminary project cost estimates while evaluating quantities. Additionally, the engineer will assist with reviewing the scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks, monitor task budgets and progress, conduct on-site observations as needed, and maintain multiple project assignments. The role also involves verifying field survey notes, preparing project status reports, assisting project managers, and attending various meetings including client progress, plan reviews, and pre-construction meetings. Continuous professional development is encouraged through attendance at seminars and training classes, and maintaining excellent client relations is a key aspect of the role. A commitment to maintaining a safe working environment is also essential.

Responsibilities

  • Design various site development projects including commercial, institutional, and residential plans from concept through construction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
  • 0 to 3 years of related experience required.
  • Completion of Part I of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation In Roads is preferred.
