About the position

Tetra Tech is seeking an entry-level engineer or scientist with a focus on environmental compliance, particularly in remediation, solid waste permitting, landfill design, and construction oversight. This role is based in Naperville, IL, and offers an opportunity to work on various civil and environmental engineering projects that contribute to sustainability and innovation in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare plans and specifications for engineering projects.
  • Perform engineering design calculations.
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, environmental data, and aerial photographs.
  • Prepare environmental monitoring plans.
  • Draft construction plans using AutoCAD and CIVIL 3D.
  • Prepare construction cost estimations.
  • Operate various field equipment for air monitoring, sampling, and surveying.
  • Collect and review environmental monitoring data including air, gas, stormwater, and groundwater.
  • Prepare environmental reports.
  • Oversee construction projects to monitor progress and ensure compliance with engineering plans and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Geological Engineering.
  • Experience in a civil or environmental engineering role preferred, such as internships or co-op experiences.
  • Experience in landfill design, permitting, or environmental monitoring is a plus.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and CIVIL 3D is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-disciplined and motivated individual who works well in a team environment.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Unwavering personal integrity.
  • Must obtain Wisconsin EIT certification within 6 months of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and CIVIL 3D.
