About the position

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Civil/Structural Engineer to work on various civil engineering projects for local, state, and federal agencies in New York State. The role involves performing CADD drafting, basic engineering calculations, and contributing to technical documentation under the guidance of a professional engineer. This position is designed for recent graduates looking to gain experience in the field, with responsibilities increasing in complexity as the candidate develops their skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform CADD drafting and introductory-level design of projects using MicroStation/InRoads or AutoCAD/Civil 3D software programs.
• Prepare basic engineering calculations, including quantity estimates.
• Provide checking-type review of plans, calculations, and reports prepared by others.
• Contribute to the writing, typing, editing, and/or formatting of technical letters and reports.
• Complete field assignments in support of design work, including making measurements, taking photographs, and checking for mapping accuracy.
• Attend project meetings, including occasional evening meetings such as public information sessions.
• Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook programs effectively.
• Attend training as directed and arranged by AECOM.
• Assist with AECOM Project Delivery System requirements by organizing, filing, distributing, and handling digital and paper project documents.
• Complete all work in a reliable and professional manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field preferred.
• Ability to draft using CADD.
• Familiarity with structural engineering computer software.
