About the position

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Civil/Structural Engineer to be based in Latham, NY. This position is expected to begin in May 2025. The candidate will be assigned to work on a variety of civil engineering projects for local, state, and federal agencies as well as public sector clients. These projects are located throughout New York State, providing a diverse range of experiences. The candidate will work under the direction of a professional engineer and will be given assignments of increasing complexity as they gain experience. The responsibilities of this position include performing CADD drafting and introductory-level design of projects using MicroStation/InRoads or AutoCAD/Civil 3D software programs. The candidate will also prepare basic engineering calculations, including quantity estimates, and provide checking-type reviews of plans, calculations, and reports prepared by others. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the writing, typing, editing, and/or formatting of technical letters and reports, as well as completing field assignments in support of design work, which includes making measurements, taking photographs, and checking for mapping accuracy. The candidate will attend project meetings, including occasional evening meetings such as public information sessions, and will be expected to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook programs effectively. Training will be provided as directed and arranged by AECOM, and the candidate will assist with AECOM Project Delivery System requirements by organizing, filing, distributing, and handling digital and paper project documents. Completing all work in a reliable and professional manner is essential for this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Ability to draft using CADD.
  • Familiarity with structural engineering computer software.
