About the position
The Entry Level Diesel Technician position at Republic Services involves performing preventive maintenance and basic repairs on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks under the supervision of experienced technicians. This role is essential for ensuring the operational efficiency of the fleet, providing opportunities for training on new technologies, and supporting the company's commitment to sustainability and community impact.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks.
- Conduct visual inspections to identify potential equipment issues.
- Complete vehicle PM inspections and adjustments, including oil changes and fluid replenishment.
- Perform light repairs such as tire changes and basic electrical work like light changes.
- Identify sources of malfunctions using a variety of tools.
- Complete applicable company training programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
- Completion of a certified diesel maintenance program is a plus but not required.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification T8 PM is a plus but not required.
- Valid Driver's License is preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with diesel engines and heavy machinery.
- Familiarity with safety protocols in maintenance environments.
