About the position

The Direct Service Professional (DSP) Internship program is designed to provide individuals with the skills necessary to deliver high-quality services and supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This entry-level position allows interns to learn under the guidance of qualified DSPs, performing duties that empower participants and help them lead self-directed lives within their communities.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with empowerment and communication
• Facilitate community living skills and supports
• Provide education, training, and self-development
• Advocate for participants' vocational, educational, and career needs
• Document interactions and maintain participant-centered care
• Build and maintain healthy relationships with participants
• Support participants' health and wellness, including daily tasks

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Identification Card or Driver's License
• Pass a background check and health screenings

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in social services or support roles
• Knowledge of the NADSP Code of Ethics
• Skills in advocacy and mentorship
