About the position

WSP is seeking an Entry-Level Draftsperson to join their US Mine Waste Civil Design and Drafting Team in Reno, NV. This role involves providing technical design and CADD support on various projects, focusing on civil design, earthworks, and mining-related tasks. The position is ideal for individuals looking to start their careers in civil drafting, offering training and development opportunities under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Modify and develop drawing packages primarily in civil design, including complex earthworks and mining designs.
• Provide quality control of drafting and design plans related to company CADD standards.
• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from physical work sites and technical drawings.
• Use 3D CADD software to assist with basic design details and prepare precise drawings.
• Provide entry-level technical design assistance ensuring compliance with design specifications.
• Assist with verifying calculations, design changes, and contract specifications.
• Work with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to company policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 0-2 years of relevant post-education experience in Civil drafting support.
• Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD 2023 and Civil 3D 2023 or newer.
• General awareness of drafting and design support principles and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently under supervision and as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Associate's Degree in a closely related discipline is preferred.
