About the position

WSP is seeking an Entry-Level Draftsperson to join their US Mine Waste Civil Design and Drafting Team in Reno, NV. This role involves providing technical design and CADD support for various projects, primarily in civil design and earthworks. The position offers an opportunity to work under direct supervision, assisting in the development of drawing packages and ensuring quality control of drafting and design plans. The ideal candidate will be involved in projects that contribute to the company's objectives and client challenges, while also receiving training to enhance their skills in CADD design.

Responsibilities

• Modify and develop drawing packages including plans, profiles, sections, and details primarily in civil design.
• Provide quality control of drafting and design plans related to company CADD standards.
• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from various sources to support drafting and design activities.
• Use 3D CADD software to assist with basic design details and prepare precise drawings.
• Provide entry-level technical design assistance ensuring proper illustration, fit form, and function.
• Assist with verifying calculations, design, change orders, and interpretation of contract plans and specifications.
• Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements for dimensions, materials, and procedures.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to company policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• 0-2 years' experience in Civil drafting support.
• Practiced skills utilizing Autodesk AutoCAD 2023 and Civil 3D 2023 or newer.
• General awareness of drafting and design support principles and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently under supervision and as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
