About the position

WSP is seeking an Entry-Level Draftsperson to join their US Mine Waste Civil Design and Drafting Team. This role involves providing technical design and CADD support for various projects, focusing on civil design, earthworks, and mining-related tasks. The position is based in Reno, NV, with consideration for Elko, NV, and Lakewood, CO. The Draftsperson will work under direct supervision, assisting in the development of design deliverables and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Modify and develop drawing packages primarily in civil design, including complex earthworks and mining designs.
• Provide quality control of drafting and design plans related to company CADD standards.
• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from various sources to support drafting and design activities.
• Use 3D CADD software to assist with basic design details and prepare precise drawings.
• Provide entry-level technical design assistance ensuring proper illustration and functionality of designs.
• Assist with verifying calculations, design changes, and interpreting contract plans and specifications.
• Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements regarding dimensions, materials, and procedures.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• 0-2 years' experience in Civil drafting support.
• Practiced skills utilizing Autodesk AutoCAD 2023 and Civil 3D 2023 or newer.
• General awareness of drafting and design support principles and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently under supervision and as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety policies.
• Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements.
