About the position

Almex USA is seeking an Entry Level Electrical Control Panel Designer to join their Electrical Engineering team. This role involves designing and developing electrical control panels for advanced aluminum casthouse systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency. The designer will collaborate with the Controls Engineering team and the manufacturing department to create precise panel designs and provide technical support during installation.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Controls Engineering team to translate electrical schematics and control requirements into detailed panel layouts.
  • Use AutoCAD Electrical to create precise panel designs, wiring diagrams, and bills of material.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as UL508a, optimizing panel designs for manufacturability, cost, and ease of maintenance.
  • Generate comprehensive electrical drawings and documentation for panel fabrication and installation.
  • Develop and update assembly instructions and test procedures for production teams.
  • Contribute to user manuals for casting control systems, ensuring clear and accurate information for end-users.
  • Liaise with the Panel Manufacturing Department on a day-to-day basis.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to implement designs and resolve any issues that arise during panel assembly.
  • Travel to site to provide technical assistance during the installation and commissioning of electrical panels.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control panel issues on-site as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical panel design, particularly within an industrial automation setting.
  • Experience in AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent CAD software for electrical design.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
  • Familiarity with UL508a and industry standards for control panel design.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
