About the position

The Entry-Level Electrical / Control Systems Engineer position at Sargent & Lundy involves supporting engineering design and consulting for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories. The role focuses on working within multi-discipline project teams to design control systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). This position offers opportunities for professional growth through mentoring and training, while contributing to meaningful projects related to environmental cleanup and nuclear safety.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams with other I&C engineers involved in the design of new PLC-based control systems and Safety Instrumented Systems.
• Prepare design media and specifications for the procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control system platforms.
• Participate in mentoring, classroom-style technical sessions, and on-the-job training to enhance engineering knowledge and skills.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
• Engage in peer learning through Sargent & Lundy's systems of process and Communities of Practice.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen; dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.
• Requires a BSEE or MSEE from an ABET accredited program.
• Strong academic background and coursework in software and programming.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective experience working in a collaborative team environment.
