About the position

As an Electrical Engineer at Sargent & Lundy, you will have the opportunity to leverage and enhance your academic background in Electrical Engineering. This position is designed for entry-level engineers who are eager to work on project teams alongside experienced electrical engineers. Your primary focus will be on the design of new high voltage and extra-high voltage substations and transmission systems. You will engage in power transmission designs and be responsible for preparing specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services. In this role, you will also have the potential to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, as well as to site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs. The position is based on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office work three days per week. Depending on your location, Sargent & Lundy offers a generous relocation package to assist with your transition into this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work on project teams with other electrical engineers involved in the design of high voltage and extra-high voltage substations and transmission systems.
  • Engage in power transmission designs and prepare specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services.
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Strong academic background with coursework in electrical power concepts and AC power systems analysis.
  • Understanding of the practical application of electrical engineering and technology, including systems, principles, techniques, and procedures for project design.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
  • Related engineering internship or co-op work experience.
