About the position

As an Electrical Engineer at Sargent & Lundy, you will have the opportunity to leverage and enhance your academic background in Electrical Engineering. This position involves working collaboratively on project teams with other electrical engineers focused on the design of new high voltage and extra-high voltage substations and transmission systems. You will play a crucial role in power transmission designs and will be responsible for preparing specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services. In this role, you may have the opportunity to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, as well as to site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring you to spend three days a week in the office while allowing for remote work flexibility for two days. Depending on your location, a generous relocation package may also be available to facilitate your transition into this role.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams on the design of high voltage and extra-high voltage substations and transmission systems.
  • Prepare specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services.
  • Conduct design reviews at client and vendor offices as needed.
  • Coordinate construction activities and verify designs at site locations.
  • Utilize MS Office applications for documentation and communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or MSEE) from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Strong academic background with coursework in electrical power concepts and AC power systems analysis.
  • Understanding of the practical application of electrical engineering principles and techniques in project design.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
  • Related engineering internship or co-op work experience.
