About the position

This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Electrical Engineering in a professional setting that presents a wide range of interesting and challenging responsibilities. You will be collaborating with other engineers and designers involved in the enhancement of nuclear plant electrical systems and associated modifications. Your role will encompass various tasks including electrical systems design, preparation of complex calculations, load flow and short circuit analysis, power flow assessments, system impact evaluations, and cable ampacity calculations. You will also be responsible for preparing documented design inputs, equipment and material specifications, and design reports. In addition to these core responsibilities, you will receive training and mentorship from experienced engineers, allowing you to engage in meaningful project engineering assignments. You will have the chance to become involved in power distribution designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services. This position will also require you to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, as well as to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs. The work schedule is hybrid, requiring in-office work three days per week.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Strong academic background in electrical power concepts/power systems analysis
  • Understanding of practical application of electrical engineering and technology
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, drawings, and models
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Internship or work experience in performing power analysis, preferably within the power industry
  • Experience performing transient analysis of power systems using software such as ETAP or SKM
