About the position

Dewberry is currently seeking an Entry Level Electrical Engineer to join our growing MEPS team in Peoria, IL. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for electrical engineering design, building information modeling (BIM) using Revit MEP software, CAD drafting using AutoCAD software, drawing production, specification writing, discipline coordination between various trades, shop drawing and submittal reviews, construction site reviews, and code reviews for MEP systems for various projects. Successful candidates may be requested to participate in opportunities in other Dewberry offices. Duties may also include the review of MEP systems designed by others, interfacing with code officials and contractors, working with architects and other clients, and collaborating with others within the Dewberry organization. This individual will work in a multi-discipline, team environment with primary responsibility for the design and production of construction documents for building systems. The engineer will also assist with the design and specification of power distribution systems, emergency generation systems, lighting, fire alarm, and other technology systems. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for electrical engineering design and building information modeling (BIM) using Revit MEP software.
  • Perform CAD drafting using AutoCAD software and drawing production.
  • Write specifications and coordinate disciplines between various trades.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, conduct construction site reviews, and perform code reviews for MEP systems.
  • Assist with the design and specification of power distribution systems, emergency generation systems, lighting, fire alarm, and other technology systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and code officials on various projects.
  • Participate in opportunities in other Dewberry offices as needed.

Requirements

  • BS in Architectural Engineering or Electrical Engineering (BSEE) degree from an ABET accredited university is required.
  • 0-2 years technical experience in the design of power distribution, lighting, life safety, and telecommunications systems.
  • Experience designing electrical systems and producing design documents for buildings in Revit MEP and AutoCAD is required.
  • Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized and able to take good notes.

Nice-to-haves

  • PE preferred.
