About the position

As an Entry-Level Environmental Specialist at Sargent & Lundy, you will be part of the Environmental and Permitting team within the Energy & Industrial Group. This role focuses on reviewing, evaluating, and implementing environmental regulatory requirements for various electric power and industrial projects. You will leverage your academic background in environmental engineering or science to support projects aimed at decarbonizing the industry through renewable energy and carbon capture technologies. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration with multi-disciplined project teams.

Responsibilities

• Review and implement federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for specific projects.
• Prepare site-specific environmental impact studies for proposed energy facilities.
• Collaborate with project engineers to ensure compliance with environmental requirements in project designs.
• Prepare permit applications and liaise with permitting agencies.
• Draft complex technical reports, including environmental and social impact assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Experience in environmental compliance, impact assessment, or permitting for industrial projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with environmental laws such as NEPA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.
• Experience in environmental impact assessments and permitting processes.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in ArcGIS mapping and experience in developing interactive environmental resource maps.
• Certification or coursework in GIS.
