About the position

The Entry Level Gas Line Safety Technician plays a vital role in ensuring community safety by inspecting gas meters and underground gas lines for leaks and corrosion. This position involves conducting visual examinations, completing necessary paperwork, and reporting findings accurately. The role is full-time, with a focus on quality and safety in the utility industry, and includes paid training for those without prior experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect gas meters and underground gas lines for leaks and corrosion.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately.
  • Report any unusual findings correctly.
  • Arrive on time for shifts and adhere to work schedules.
  • Participate in paid training to gain necessary skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods on varying types of terrain.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift heavy items.
  • Proficient in using simple hand tools and technology (smartphone, tablet).
  • Valid Driver's License and Safe Driving Record.
  • Pass a Drug Screen Test and CORI (Criminal Background) Check.
  • Pass Operator Qualification Test as part of training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in utility or safety-related fields (not mandatory).
  • Familiarity with utility maps.
