About the position

The Entry Level Home Care Payroll Specialist position at Addus Homecare is primarily focused on performing payroll functions, which include the entry and processing of detailed time records and other data necessary to produce payrolls. This role involves reviewing and processing payroll modifications as directed, as well as analyzing payroll data and generating reports. The specialist will be responsible for maintaining internal controls to ensure proper entry and balancing of payrolls, adhering to regulations such as Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA. The position is full-time, requiring in-office attendance from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, located at 1 North LaSalle St Ste 4100, Chicago, IL 60602. In this role, the specialist will have primary responsibility for the timely and accurate processing of time and attendance data necessary for payroll processing. This includes data entry of mileage and other reimbursements, ensuring the accurate use of pay codes and pay rates for services, and auditing entries made by other staff. The specialist will also communicate effectively with appropriate staff regarding payroll issues, perform rate and payroll entry for special programs, and assist with payroll reports as needed. Confidentiality is paramount, as the specialist will have access to sensitive payroll information and must maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times. The role requires flexibility to meet departmental needs and adherence to all relevant regulations and internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform payroll function including entry and processing of detailed time records and other data to produce payrolls.
  • Review and process payroll modifications as directed.
  • Analyze payroll data and generate reports.

  • Audit entry of specific types of entries to payroll by other staff.
  • Communicate effectively with appropriate staff on payroll issues for resolution.
  • Perform rate and payroll entry for special programs as requested.
  • Assist with, review, and follow up on payroll reports as requested.
  • Review new and termed employees' report weekly to ensure all rates are entered for new employees.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll information.
  • Follow all Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA regulations and requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of home care office administration or data entry experience required.
  • Customer service skills and computer literacy.
  • Typing skills and ability to handle multiple phone lines.
  • Well organized with excellent attention to detail.
