About the position

The Industrial Engineer will perform a variety of functions to facilitate continual improvement activities in all product areas. This role is crucial in implementing, updating, and maintaining the Bill of Material (BOM) for all seat types produced within the facility to ensure compliance with J-SOX regulations and to maintain the required documentation for all activities. The position involves utilizing various methodologies and tools to enhance production efficiency and quality, including Kanban, value stream mapping, and time studies. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, implementing, updating, and maintaining both new and current model QAD/Excel BOMs and product structures using drawings and design part lists. You will also engage in process design, updating line layouts through CAD drawings, and balancing processes and manpower allocations. The position requires tracking quality cycle time and production manpower against actual performance, conducting OEE studies, and making necessary updates in the customer portal. Additionally, you will perform QAD functions, which include managing product structures, routings, change orders, work instructions, and work centers. The role also involves correcting approved errors in QAD/Excel BOMs and product structures as needed. You will work with rigging and scaffolding, utilizing ropes, chains, cables, hoists, jacks, and lift trucks to move heavy equipment, and assist in investigating discrepancies between part lists and drawings. The technician will also support physical inventory activities and must be capable of operating powered hand tools, with welding and cutting torch operations being a plus. Effective communication is essential for discussing scope of work, completion schedules, and materials required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, update, and maintain the Bill of Material (BOM) for all seat types produced within the facility.
  • Utilize Kanban for visual process management to determine production needs.
  • Conduct value stream mapping to analyze and design material and information flow.
  • Perform time studies to record process flow and task completion times for both man and machine.
  • Create and maintain QAD/Excel BOMs and product structures using drawings and design part lists.
  • Design processes and update line layouts using CAD drawings.
  • Balance processes and allocate manpower effectively.
  • Design assembly fixtures and track quality cycle time and production manpower.
  • Conduct OEE studies and make process updates in the customer portal.
  • Perform QAD functions including product structures, routings, and work instructions.
  • Correct approved errors in QAD/Excel BOMs and product structures as needed.
  • Assist in investigating discrepancies between part lists and drawings.
  • Support physical inventory activities and operate powered hand tools.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Kanban and its application in production environments.
  • Experience with value stream mapping and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Familiarity with Most studies for setting engineered time standards.
  • Understanding of Kata as a managerial tool for scientific behavior.
  • Ability to conduct time studies effectively.
  • Experience with BOM activities and QAD functions.
  • Proficiency in CAD for updating line layouts.
  • Experience in assembly fixture design and OEE studies.
