About the position

As an IT Project Manager at Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI), you will oversee the development, deployment, and maintenance of local area networks and associated custom software used in the administration and operation of nuclear reactors. This role involves project oversight, technical recommendations, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements, all while supporting the United States Navy's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Research and prepare written technical recommendations on network hardware and software products.
  • Develop system design and performance specifications, test requirements, and security implementation of network and communication hardware and software.
  • Perform project oversight and follow of supplier design, supplier testing, and supplier procedure development.
  • Review, verify, and approve supplier design submittals including procedures for installation, operations, and troubleshooting of network hardware and software products.
  • Provide written technical support to end users to troubleshoot and resolve network or software functional issues.
  • Conduct independent verification of operation and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Support implementation and documentation of cybersecurity compliance with government requirements.
  • Communicate extensively internally as well as with external customer and supplier personnel.
  • Perform project oversight of the installation of network hardware and software products at end destinations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Requires a security clearance; ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred for newer college graduates.
  • Experience with network administration, virtualization (VMWare), network communication architecture, cybersecurity, configuration and use of network firewalls, backup and recovery software methodologies, and support of IT networks is preferred.
  • Knowledge of network hardware is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability of effective written and oral communication skills and creative problem-solving capabilities is strongly desired.
