About the position

The Entry Level Interior Designer position is designed for recent graduates or individuals with limited experience in interior design. The role involves working under the supervision of senior staff to assist in various aspects of interior design, including planning, material selection, and the preparation of design presentations. The candidate will gain hands-on experience in drafting, research, and the use of design software, contributing to the development of design concepts and layouts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the analyses of interior design and materials, planning, and occupancy studies.
  • Assemble the organization and components of SD, DD, and CD sets under supervision.
  • Compile data, prepare plans/renderings, models, and graphic presentations guided by senior staff.
  • Conduct materials investigations and assemble sample presentations, including layout boards and material boards.
  • Participate in design discussions about elevations, plans, and sections at the schematic level.
  • Conduct research on FF&E and assist with data collection as directed.
  • Utilize basic digital drawing skills and knowledge in design tasks.
  • Demonstrate competence in software used for presentations and studies.
  • Create diagrams, renderings, and drawings to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Manage digital files and adhere to standards for documentation.
  • Print, plot, collate, and assemble document sets as required.
  • Document existing conditions, perform field measurements, and incorporate redlines into drawings.
  • Input existing drawings into Revit and develop an understanding of codes and standards affecting design.
  • Understand the types of finishes and their applications on CBT projects.
  • Familiarize with the furniture specification process and its components.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience or multiple internships in interior design.
  • Preferred degree in interior design or equivalent; enrollment in professional certification or sustainable accreditation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required; experience with Rhino is a plus.
  • Basic digital drawing skills and knowledge of design software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CADD and Adobe/Blue Beam software.
  • Understanding of BIM worksets and building content.
