About the position

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Interior Designer to be based in Roanoke, VA. This position is expected to begin in Summer 2025. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline engineers. Under minimal supervision, develops complex interior design drawings. Exercises sound judgment in assessing problem situations or complex design issues and uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions. Reviews discipline supplier documents and other discipline’s supplier documents for accuracy. Performs thorough and accurate material take-offs for the discipline. Prepares designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures. Reviews completed work with design and drafting personnel responsible for its completion to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design data. Understands and assists with the planning and scheduling of design tasks associated with assigned project. Assists in interpreting industry codes, permits, and standards, and ensures design and drawing compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this role.

  • Experience in project construction documentation using Revit.
  • Proficient in SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suites products, or other related graphic software.
  • Knowledge of project design and construction documentation and materials.
  • Ability to work on multiple, fast-paced projects.
  • Ability to follow directions and manage specific tasks to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Portfolio submission required to demonstrate skill set.
