About the position

LabCorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Processing and Accessioning team in Louisville, Kentucky. The Specimen Accessioner will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of millions of healthcare tests conducted every month. This position requires a high level of organization and accountability, as the individual will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment. The work will be conducted according to established standard operating procedures, ensuring that all specimens are handled with the utmost care and precision. The Specimen Accessioner will prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, which includes unpacking and routing specimens to their respective staging areas. Accurate identification and labeling of specimens are critical, as is the packing and shipping of specimens to the appropriate testing facilities. The individual will be expected to meet department activity and production goals while properly preparing and storing excess specimen samples. Data entry of patient information must be performed accurately and in a timely manner, and any problem specimens must be resolved and documented accordingly. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM, with rotating Saturdays from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas

  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • No relative experience required; 1-2+ years relative experience (lab/accessioning, production/manufacturing/warehouse environment) is a plus
  • Previous medical or production experience is a plus
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs
  • Ability to pass a standardized color blind test
