About the position

Harrison | Kristopher, LLP is seeking an Entry Level Legal Assistant/Secretary to support a busy litigation partner in their Concord, CA office. This full-time position involves a variety of administrative and legal tasks to ensure efficient case management and client communication.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain calendar management, billing, and case management database.
  • Organize legal files and documents.
  • Communicate with clients and opposing counsel to obtain information and prepare reports.
  • Draft routine documents, correspondence, pleadings, and discovery materials.
  • Review, summarize, and analyze court documents, pleadings, and discovery received, as well as client documents and medical records.
  • Prepare draft responses in litigation matters and compile responses to document requests under supervision.
  • Perform administrative duties including scheduling meetings and maintaining calendars and travel arrangements.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely follow-through on issues.
  • Assist with trial preparation.
  • Work collaboratively within a team.

Requirements

  • Some college education; college degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of administrative office experience required; personal injury/law office experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with proficiency in establishing and maintaining client files.
  • High degree of personal integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent secretarial, clerical, writing, and editing skills, along with strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and competence with personal computers, including multiple databases, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Ability to work independently, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-direction with the ability to prioritize and excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to interact with clients and opposing counsel in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to research and interpret legal procedures, statutes, and regulations.
