About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Foreign Disclosure Officer for various product directorates and program offices. The officer is responsible for determining the releasability of both classified and controlled unclassified equipment, technical orders, engineering data, and other information to foreign countries or their representatives. This role involves planning, developing, and implementing foreign disclosure procedures while providing direction and guidance on assigned international programs of the product directorates and program offices. The Foreign Disclosure Officer will review and approve classified and unclassified export-controlled information for release and transmission to foreign governments and nationals. This includes reviewing and interpreting USAF disclosure guidance, identifying inconsistencies in the guidance, and recommending changes when necessary. The officer acts as a foreign disclosure representative for the organization, attending program management reviews, worldwide reviews, and technical and acquisition meetings at various locations and national agencies. Additionally, the officer administers Foreign National visits, which includes the use of one-time, recurring, and extended visit authorizations for Foreign Liaison Officers. The position also involves processing and approving visit requests through SPAN and FORDTIS, advising organization leadership on foreign visits to the base.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems.
  • Experience serving as a Foreign Disclosure Officer for various product directorates and program offices.
  • Knowledge of National Disclosure Policy (NDP-1) principles and their application to Foreign Military Sales and commercial exports.
  • Knowledge of international affairs concepts and US foreign policy principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Air Force acquisition policies and procedures, specific foreign disclosure operations, and classified material handling.
  • Ability to plan and implement an Air Force foreign disclosure program.
  • Ability to review complex technical material and analyze the impact of disclosure or export to foreign entities.
  • Ability to effectively write and orally communicate foreign disclosure and export information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in military service or government service related to foreign disclosure.
  • Familiarity with volunteer work that builds competencies relevant to the position.
