About the position

The Entry-Level Structural Drafter/Designer position within the Energy & Industrial Group at Sargent & Lundy involves supporting industry-leading projects in power generation and plant design. The role focuses on utilizing creativity and innovation to develop CAD 3D design models of steel structures and concrete foundations, producing 2D drawing deliverables, and collaborating with senior designers and other disciplines to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

• Produce structural drawings that are completed on-time and within budget, maintaining quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical designers to resolve clashes within the 3D model.
• Travel to client facilities with experienced project team members to verify on-site physical design conditions.
• Adapt to a wide range of technologies in power generation, mining, oil & gas, and renewables.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Computer Aided Design Technology preferred.
• CAD certificate required if non-degreed.
• Proficiency in at least one major CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD or MicroStation).
• Awareness of American Concrete Institute (ACI) for foundation design.
• Awareness of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) manual for steel design.
• Awareness of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
• Attention to detail and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Bentley OpenBuildings Designer.
• Experience with Autodesk Navisworks.
