About the position

The Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer will work in the Power Delivery Substation Department at POWER Engineers' Orlando office. This role involves supporting the design and development of electrical substations, ensuring high-quality standards and client satisfaction while benefiting from training and mentorship opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations including one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, and station physical layouts.
• Create sections/elevations, cable and conduit plans and details, ground grid design and details, foundation plans and details, and structural plans and details.
• Design control enclosures, lightning protection plans, yard lighting plans, and bills of materials.
• Conduct site visits and support QA/QC for deliverables to clients.
• Learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while completing complex designs individually or within a team.
• Collaborate with the department to achieve goals and maintain high-quality standards.

Requirements

• BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree from an accredited university, preferably with a power option.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering principles.
• Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
• Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

• At least 3 months of relevant electrical engineering work experience, such as an internship or co-op.
• Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA).
• Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design.
• Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
