About the position

The Entry Level Technical Report Writer position is designed for individuals who are eager to develop their skills in writing and reporting scientific and technical information in a clear and comprehensible manner. This role is crucial in supporting due diligence related projects by preparing technical reports that convey complex information to an average reader. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced technical managers and will be supervised by a Senior Manager, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and direction to grow in their role. In this position, the writer will gain exposure to the intricacies of report writing, gradually improving their competence in this area. They will be responsible for completing reports while receiving guidance from their manager or a senior writer. The role requires proficiency in managing tasks and utilizing a reporting queue effectively. The writer will prepare, review, proofread, and modify technical environmental reports, ensuring that all documents meet the required standards of quality and clarity. Additionally, the writer will be tasked with providing figures, photographs, and supporting documentation to enhance the reports and clarify the information presented. They will also review and summarize previous assessment reports, historical and regulatory records, and other relevant documents. Conducting interviews with property owners, occupants, key site personnel, and local government officials will be essential to gather information regarding the environmental conditions of various properties. As part of their development, the writer will begin cross-training in another Technical Services group or Service Area, such as Geology, Field, Engineering, or Data, to broaden their expertise and understanding of the field.

Responsibilities

  • Gain exposure to writing reports with improving competence
  • Complete reports under guidance and supervision of manager and/or senior writer
  • Become proficient in management of tasks and utilization of reporting queue
  • Prepare, review, proofread, and modify technical environmental reports
  • Provide figures, photographs, and supporting documentation to illustrate or clarify information presented in the body of reports
  • Review and summarize previous assessment reports, historical and regulatory records, and other documents
  • Conduct interviews with property owners, occupants, key site personnel and local government officials to obtain information concerning the environmental conditions of a property
  • Begin cross-training in another Technical Services group (Geology, Field, Engineering, or Data) or Service Area (Consulting, Compliance, Transaction, Remedial Construction)

Requirements

  • B.S. in History, English, Environmental Science, Communications, or a science-based field
  • Entry level - 2 years of recommended experience
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to properly format documents and tables
  • Ability to consistently identify appropriate Recognized Environmental Concerns
