About the position

The Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) Manager will lead a high-performance team to develop and manage complex ES&H project programs at the Thacker Pass lithium project. This role involves ensuring compliance with ES&H performance expectations, integrating requirements into project plans, and driving continuous improvement in safety and environmental practices. The manager will oversee the execution of ES&H programs, manage budgets and resources, and maintain relationships with stakeholders to promote a safe and compliant work environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage an Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) program on a large or complex project, including compliance activities and processes associated with all three ESH disciplines.
• Supervise EHS personnel and facilitate their development through assignments, coaching, and mentoring.
• Ensure ESH requirements are properly interpreted and integrated into planning documents, design criteria, and operational plans.
• Apply Bechtel's ESH Management System and standards to improve EHS program execution.
• Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for implementing ESH requirements and evaluating risks.
• Write technical, regulatory, and performance reports for senior management and the global business unit (GBU).
• Oversee the implementation of Environmental Management Plans and Safety and Health Management Plans in compliance with standards and regulations.
• Establish ESH emergency preparedness planning and confirm investigation and resolution of ESH incidents.
• Track, evaluate, and report ESH data and performance trends, determining corrective actions and opportunities for improvement.
• Build working relationships with stakeholders and address their issues and concerns.
• Conduct assessments and inspections to confirm ESH compliance with contractual commitments and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with Bechtel's ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree (or international equivalent) in environmental, safety, health, or a science-related discipline.
• 13-15 years of relevant experience for Grade 28 or 15+ years for Grade 29, or equivalent work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of environmental and/or safety engineering, process safety, health, or related disciplines.
• Experience in supervising all aspects of ES&H on projects or facilities.
• Knowledge of national and international ES&H laws/regulations and permitting processes.
• Experience in managing ES&H contractors/subcontractors during construction.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in implementing ES&H training programs.
• Knowledge of construction environmental issues, such as hazardous materials and waste management.
