About the position

The Environmental Project Manager at TC Energy will play a crucial role in managing environmental permitting and compliance efforts for various projects within the US Natural Gas Business Unit. This position involves overseeing environmental permitting on FERC regulated projects, ensuring compliance from project conception to completion, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to meet regulatory requirements. The role requires effective communication and negotiation with agencies, as well as post-construction monitoring and management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental permitting on FERC regulated projects for natural gas pipelines and storage facilities.
  • Oversee environmental compliance measures throughout project development from concept to completion.
  • Execute projects on-time and on-budget, measuring success through established project scorecards.
  • Organize and monitor the progress of environmental work assignments for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Communicate and negotiate permit conditions with Federal, State, and Local agencies.
  • Participate in project planning and identify regulatory requirements for successful project completion.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and external agencies and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and conduct monitoring and field investigations to support permit applications and ensure compliance.
  • Oversee environmental and cultural resource surveys and prepare environmental reports and assessments.
  • Partner with construction field personnel to achieve compliance goals and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Plan strategy and approach for maintaining environmental compliance with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Manage post-construction activities, including monitoring and permit close-out.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, natural resource management, or related fields.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, including NEPA, NGA, ESA, CWA, and NHPA.
  • 5-7 years of experience in managing environmental planning and permitting for transmission pipelines and storage facilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with FERC application development and related Federal & State permitting processes.
  • Experience solving complex regulatory, permitting, and compliance issues for major pipeline infrastructure projects.
  • Expertise in assessing the impact of environmental regulatory initiatives and developing strategies to address them.
  • Experience working with non-governmental organizations.
