About the position

RSI Logistics, recently acquired by Trinity Industries Inc, is seeking a Summer Intern working with our Environment Health & Safety team in Okemos, MI. This summer intern would work on a comprehensive environmental compliance project focused on assisting with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, and FRA compliance for our facilities. Their primary project would involve conducting environmental assessments and audits, preparing regulatory reports, and aiding in the development of environmental impact assessments. In addition, the intern would have the opportunity to participate in sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing waste, conserving resources, and enhancing energy efficiency. They will gain hands-on exposure to regulatory compliance and sustainability processes by collaborating with engineers and operations staff to interpret environmental regulations, implement sustainability measures, and participate in onsite environmental training sessions. Key learnings will include applying federal and state environmental regulations, understanding sustainable practices in a compliance setting, practical audit preparation and execution, and the nuances of regulatory documentation and report creation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of environmental regulations (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Some experience or familiarity with environmental assessments, audits, or compliance processes is preferred
